In this video Javier Calleja opens up about his upbringing, not shying away from the hard times and criticism he encountered along the way.
The interview takes place in Javier’s studio in Málaga, he shares many crucial moments in his career, from working with his first gallery in Spain Rafael Pérez Hernando to meeting for the first time with Japanese gallery Nanzuka Underground and Aisho Nanzuka that will propel his career up til his current exhibition at Fundación Unicaja in Málaga in the historical Bishop’s Palace.
Javier also discusses learning along the way and addresses criticism and misconception he received in regards to his works resemblance to Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara while sharing his opinion of what real originality means to him.
